Megan Mylan is known for making documentary films. She was born in 1969 in California. A few years later, Mylan and her family moved to Dallas, Texas where she graduated from Highland Park High School.After high school, Megan Mylan went on to do great things with her education and career. She attended the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service from which she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then earned her master’s degree in both journalism and Latin American studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
After working in Brazil working for Ashoka, a non-profit, Mylan made the decision to pursue a career in documentary filmmaking. Her best known works include Lost Boys of Sudan, nominee for two Emmys and winner of the Independent Spirit Award, and Smile Pinki, a 2008 Academy Award-winning piece for Best Documentary. She has also done documentary works featured on HBO, PBS and other major broadcasting stations.
